Surrounded by his family, William "Bill" Pincin, died at home on Friday, January 22, 2010. He was born on August 7, 1926, in McCloud, California to Luigi and Luiga Pincin.
Bill graduated from McCloud High School in 1944 and joined the US Army, 6th Division 63rd Infantry, Company M that same year. He served in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Korea during World War II. He received a Bronze Star and attained rank of 1st Sergeant. In 1946, he returned to McCloud and began working for the McCloud River Railroad Company.
He married Bonnie Young in 1948 and together they raised a family. Bill continued to work for the Railroad until his retirement in 1988. He and Bonnie also owned and operated a logging truck business, Pincin Trucking, from 1965 through 1991. Following retirement, they traveled the world extensively. In addition to vacationing with his wife, Bill enjoyed numerous hunting trips to Mexico and South America with his son. Bill also loved fishing, gardening, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a life time member of the Squaw Valley Riding Club, Knights of Columbus and American Legion, all in McCloud.
To be closer to their family, Bill and Bonnie moved to Redding in 2004.
Bill has left a loving family that includes his wife, Bonnie, his daughters: Cathy Minoletti (John), Judy Schwerdt (Tom), Billie Lewis (Gary) and son, Jim Pincin (Leslie) all of Redding, along with 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his sisters: Adrienne Hindman and Terry Van Hook of Santa Rosa and Lola Mackey of Sunsites, Arizona. In addition to numerous other family members and friends, Bill leaves his beloved hunting dog, Ginger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Alfred and Joe.
Bill and Bonnie celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on January 5th with their children and grandchildren. He leaves his family with a legacy of high standards that he would be proud to say was his greatest accomplishment! His family was his first priority and he proudly hosted weekly Sunday dinners where he took great joy in listening to everyone's day to day activities. This, in turn, created loving attachments that will live in memories forever!
Please join us in celebrating the life of Bill Pincin at a memorial service at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro on Thursday, January 28th, at 11:00 a.m. His nephew, Louis Cosentino, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or www.Lls.org.
